Advocacy

At NCM, we make sure that the voice of our people is being heard and communicated to the concerned authority. We provide advocacy services that are unbiased, free and independent. Our advocacy service is based on the goal to help the Muslims of Nottingham.

Throughout the year, NCM attends several meetings with various organisations which include Councils, Police, NHS, and Interfaith Groups, to raise issues affecting our member Mosques and the Muslim community at large. Being a single representative body for the majority of Mosques in Nottingham, allows us to have important conversations and influence policy and decision-making processes which impact building community relationships with Muslims in Nottingham.

In September 2022 NCM Management Committee members met the Lord Lieutenant of Nottingham (Kings Representative in Nottinghamshire). He was meeting with all faith groups, following the passing away of the Queen.  Our representatives’ spoke at the Queens Jubilee event held at County Hall and several interfaith events held by the High Sheriff of Nottingham.

The NCM along with the Green Academy Trust provides a community Iftar every year at Ramadan to build community relationships and raise awareness of the importance and significance of Ramadan to Muslims.

The NCM as a Muslim community centre is currently identifying training on safeguarding, health and safety, first aid and financial management to ensure that the standards of service delivery from our member Mosques are of the highest quality.

With our advocacy service, we feed into and respond on behalf of our members on any national surveys consultations that take place which would impact our member Mosques and our communities.
