Burial Issues

Every Muslim deserves to be buried respectively. The funeral cost UK is very high due to which many Muslims in the UK live in the morgue for months. At MCM, we make sure that our Muslim community get the proper burial services without any trouble. The NCM works with various agencies including, local authorities, Registrar services, Coroner’s office, Nottingham University Hospitals and others to deliver on many burial-related issues listed below:

  • Lead on reinstalling Earth grave option at both Highwood and Wilford Cemeteries.
  • Ensured community voice is heard with Council to ensure no fee increase for natural burials UK.
  • Worked on extended burial times throughout the year.
  • Facilitated the availability of Janaza service at Highwood Cemetery.
  • Organised regular tidy-up and maintenance activities at Highwood & Wilford cemeteries.
  • Put Covid compliance procedures in place to ensure Government guidelines were met.
  • Provide 24hr advice & support to bereaved families.
  • Liaise with Nottingham Registrar services and have agreed on the allocation of 2 daily ‘faith-based’ appointments for death registration.
  • Represent Nottingham at the National Burial Conference and ensure we are aware of the latest regulations about burial services.
  • Regularly meet with Lead Medical Examiner, NUH Bereavement Team and Mortuary.
  • Working to improve services for the Muslim community including the speedy release of the deceased from the hospital and also working to devise a policy to ensure the removal of IV lines before the body is released.
